A recent survey taken by the Internationbal center for integrated mountains development suggest that approximately 56000 glaciers of the Himalaya, hindu Kush, Karakorm and Pamir mountains, which together form an arc across Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar will disappear. What is to blame? The answer is global warming. Experts say that depending on the rate of global warming, these glaciers will disappear by 2100. That’s almost 80 years from now. New Rare and Endangered Bird Species found in Nepal

Nepal is famous for its rich biodiversity.   Various floura, founa and Wildlife can be found here Due to its favorable climate. After seven month long research conducted by Mr kushal shrestra and   his team with the help of   Chandra Gurung foundation, they were able to spot four species of rare and endangered birds in the gorkha region of   Nepal. These birds are listed in the endangered categories due to their numbers rapidly decreasing in the recent years. It is suggested that due to rapid climate change and deforestation these birds have migrated to this region. These are the species of the birds found in Nepal. Among them, three rare species of birds belonging to the bird family of Accipitridae. Miss Jamaica crowned Miss World 2019

The 69 th edition of the Miss World beauty pageant, Miss World 2019 was held on December 14, 2019 at the ExCel London. 23-year-old Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica was crowned the title of Miss World-2019 by Vanessa Ponce, the last year’s winner. This is the fourth time Jamaica has claimed the title of miss world since 1963. The title of first runner was crowned to OphélyMézino of france and the second runner to Suman Rao of India. Nepal also secured its position at top 12 by our very own Anushka Shrestha. The 2019 opening ceremony was held in London on November 20. Contestants then competed in a series of fast track events around London. It is the first time in history that black women hold the titles for Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss World.The highlight of the event was the reaction of Miss Nigeria to Jamaica winning Miss World title. India is facing heavy onion shortage due to the crops being destroyed by heavy rain fall. This resulted in the prices of onions being sky rocketed. Since it is the key ingredient in every Indian meal, the general public has been affected. This shortage has resulted in onions being smuggled to Nepal because the government of India has issued a band in export of onions to meet the demands of its own general public. Due to the high price of onions people are asking for onions in exchange of favors. The situation has gone crazier, so much so that the traffic police in India are taking onions as fine for traffic violation. Nepal relies heavily on India to meet its demand for onion. Volcanic eruption in New Zealand.

On Monday at 2:15 p.m. local time, New Zealand’s most active volcano erupted sending clouds of smoke and volcanic ashes to the sky covering the White island where the volcano was located. There has been one confirmed death and is likely to increase according to the authorities.   More than 50 people were present at the island during the explosion some were rescued immediately while for the others search continues.   Emergency services are conducting search and rescue operations at the island. Most of the injured are suffering from burns. Carnage in Gadhimai Festival.

Held every 5 years at the Gadhimai temple of Bariyarpur, in Bara District of Nepal, the Gadhimai festival is considered to be world’s largest animal sacrifice event. Started about 300 years ago this festival has claimed the lives of billions of innocent animals such as water buffalo, goats, pigs, pigeons, rats and roosters all in the name of religion. Many animal rights organization such as Humane Society International have tried desperately to end this massive bloodshed but all their efforts has garner little to no success. In 2009 the death toll of the animals was 500,000. Due to various efforts the number was reduced to 30,000. It is estimated that 7,000 buffaloes were brought for beheading at this year Gadhimai festival. This shows that we still have a long way to go to stop this cruel practice.
