Conundrum of Everest Base Camp trek




Small country with diverse landscape, pleasant weather and humble people following distinct culture and tradition having we- feeling make Nepal no less than heaven.
The high Himalayas tremble cold water effortlessly coming from it, pierce the green hills and smoothly flow down showing the pure beauty of nature. This kind of panoramic views attract not only the foreigner but native are also fascinated with its beauty.
However, along its beauty, Nepal is full with conundrum. Taking from its culture, lifestyle to biodiversity, landscape found here makes every individual puzzled and yet has become an interesting fact to all.

Mysterious Yeti


The Yeti, or the Abominable Snowman as it is known as in the west, is a legendary creature said to inhabit the upper ranges of the Himalaya Mountains. It is believed that long ago, trekkers making Everest expedition found a foot print of gigantic Yeti. Later, an expedition with a group of scientists in the 1960’s searching for evidence of the Yeti was conducted, but not a trace was found. It has become a great mystery of Everest Region.

Yarsagumba trek


Yarsagumba (Cordyceps, or also Ophiocordyceps Sinensis) is a most weird herb found in himalayan region. It is an herb said to be mixture of plant and insect. One term often used—Chinese Caterpillar Fungus.
The caterpillar of a moth genus Thitarodes (Hepialus) lives underground in shrub lands of the Himalayas (3000 m-5000 m) for almost five years before becoming a pupa. During its larva state, it is attacked by a fungus of the genus Ophiocordycipitaceae which kills the insect by filling its body cavity with mycelium. Once the weather gets warmer, mushrooms growing out of the caterpillar’s forehead emerge from the ground.
In Nepal, many people from Himalayas go for this trek in premonsoon (March – June). They collect the Yarsagumba and sell it with high profit.

Growing Everest 2.5 inch per year


Mount Everest which is known as the tallest mountain in the world grows about 2.5 inches in each year. In the last 26,000 years, Mount Everest has grown about a full mile in height Scientists have also determined that the Himalayas as a whole are still growing at a rate of about 2.4 inches per year, which is twice as fast as previously thought.
Mount Everest is just one of over 30 peaks in the mountains of the Himalayas that are over 24,000 feet high. Since it is the world's highest mountain, climbing to the top of Mount Everest is a goal of many mountain climbers.    

The Ghost of Everest


According to the data, every year more than 240 people died in attempting Everest. Due to freezing cold above 2600 feet above, their bodies are still there. Some hanging on the rope other on snow cave still not brought down. Many Sherpas believe the ghosts of Everest will not be appeased or leave the mountain until the bodies of the deceased are given a proper burial.
One of the famous mountaineers, Pemba Dorje witnessed supernatural activities in Everest. After three days of accomplishing of summit, back on the way on death zone saw a black shadow spirit coming toward him stretching the hand asking for food. This might be the spirit of deceased mountaineer while attempting summit.

Presence of third person


When two mountaineers ran out of oxygen with no food forced to stay their night on Death Zone. They dug a snow hole and bunched in for the night. Then something mysterious happen under the hole they could fell the presence of another person which shared its body heat along offered with advice and suggestions to help the climbers stay warm and alive.
