Best Trekking Destinations In Kathmandu Valley

Being the capital, Kathmandu is the most developed city of Nepal. But surrounding this concrete jungle are many hills covered with lush green forests. Kathmandu valley is home to many trekking destinations which are mostly situated at the edge of the city area . Enjoy peace and tranquility of nature and escape the hazzel and buzzle of the city. Phulchowki

Standing at the height of 2791m, Phulchowki is the highest point in Kathmandu valley. The trail begins from the Godawari botanical garden which is excellent point to begin the journey toward the top of the hill. The hill provides a magnificent view of the Kathmandu valley. The trail is home to many exotic species of birds which is great if you are found of bird watching. Located at the top of the hill is the ancient temple of Phulchowki which is the inspiration for the name of this place. One can take either vehicle or can hike to this hill. Phulchowki is filled with lush vegetation including the Rhododendron of different colour. The icing on the cake (literally) is that the hill experiences snowfall during winter.

Kakani Hill Station

Although technically not situated in the Kathmandu valley. The trail for Kakani begins from Machhapokhari Kathmandu. the road is even suitable those who enjoy mountain bike trekking. The main attraction of Kakani is its strawberry farming which you can encounter on the way to Kakani hill station. The trip is about an hour long by driving from Kathmandu. Once you reach the Kakani hill station you can enjoy the magnificent and breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains namely Langtang mountain range, Ganesh mountain ranges, manaslu, annapurna etc. On the way you can encounter many friendly locals. Kakani is also famous for the trout fish which are found in its canals.

Shivapuri To Sundarijal

The only National park situated in the valley. Shivapuri national park has been a main attraction to many hikers. The trail begins from entrance of the Shivapuri national park and ends at the Sundarijal hydro power station. The trail is full of lush wildlife and vegetation. It takes from dawn till dusk to finish the trial from start to its end. The experience includes the tour of Boudhanilkantha temple and NagiGompa along with the amazing view of the city below. The trail is also accessible via private vehicle. And if you are a thrill seeker then you can enjoy the night tour of the national park via enclose vehicle and watch the wildlife in their natural habitat.
