Annapurna Circuit Trek
The classic 21 days Annapurna Circuit Trekking also
well-known as Round Annapurna Trekking via Thorong La Pass Trek; has long been
so popular amongst trekkers. The region is considered to be one of the
world’s great treks. You will be able to encounter the extraordinary mountain
ranges and breathtaking landscapes. Here are superb views of the Annapurnas and
Dhaulagiri, and an amazing variety of landscapes ranging from sub-tropical
through alpine to arid semi-desert akin to Tibet. Annapurna Circuit Treks
offers not only some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Himalaya, but
between the lush irrigated Marshyangdi valley, the high arid country to the
north, then down into the Kaligandaki valley, the deepest gorge in the world,
the traveller passes through a myriad cross-section of the culture of Nepal.
Annapurna Circuit Trekking in Nepal is
also an opportunity to explore the culture, tradition, lifestyle, and food of
the Thakali people.
When assessing the Annapurna
Circuit as it stands today, it’s important to remember that development along
the Annapurna Circuit occurred long before the roads were built. The influx of
trekkers over the last thirty years led to significant infrastructure,
teahouses, and small communities supported by trekking. Other treks in Nepal
offer more of a wilderness experience, but the teahouses on the Annapurna
Circuit are a luxury that facilitate weeks of trekking while carrying only a
fraction of the supplies.
Annapurna Circuit Trek takes us
around the entire Annapurna massif reaching the zenith at Thorong La Pass
(5,416m/17,769ft). We also walk through the world's deepest Kali Gandaki gorge
with Annapurna I rising to 8091 m to the east and Dhaulagiri hovering at 8167 m
to the west! We savor the fabulous mountain views from Poon Hill and discover
the diverse Annapurna region. Furthermore, Annapurna Circuit Trek also takes us
to Manang, Jomsom and Muktinath region which again gets us acquainted with the
diverse Nepalese landscape and culture.
Autumn (mid Sept to mid Dec) and
spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Annapurna Region Trek. The
weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views but the nights are cold and
can fall to freezing. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for Annapurna
Sanctuary Trek, only colder (obviously). The trekking routes are crowded during
spring and autumn but during winter the routes are not packed and you could
enjoy rather best of nature. However, please note, there may be snowfall /
avalanches during the winter.
